The nominees of the 56th Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival have recently announced. Detention, directed by John HSU, alumnus of the Department of Radio, Television and Film, Shih Hsin University, leads with 12 nominations. Tom LIN Shu-yu, director of The Garden of Evening Mists, and HUNG Tzu-hsuan who directed the film of The Scoundrels, alumni of the Department of Radio, Television and Film, were nominated 9 and 6 awards respectively. Paradise Next, directed by HSIAO Jen-chieh, alumnus of the Department of Information Management, leads with Best Art Direction nomination. The four alumni stand out from the crowd, lead 28 awards in total!

 

The Executive Committee announced the nominations on October 1st, 2019. Detention steals the show and leads with 12 nominations, including Best Narrative Feature, Best New Director, Best Leading Actress, Best New Performer and Best Adapted Screenplay to name a few. The Garden of Evening Mists, directed by Tom LIN Shu-yu, was nominated with Best Director, Best Narrative Feature, Best Leading Actress, Best Adapted Screenplay and so on. HUNG Tzu-hsuan’s film, The Scoundrels, leads with 6 dominations, including Best New Director, Best Cinematography, Best Action Choreography, Best Sound Effects, etc.

 

The total submissions of the year go up to 588, including 91 Narrative Feature, 2 Animated Feature, 86 Documentary, 353 Live Action Short Film, and 56 Animated Short Film. The Jury President, Director Wang Toon will lead the committees to announce the final winning list in the ceremony on 23rd November, 2019.
