The purpose of this course is to provide students with the methods of tourism planning and planning theories, and help students to develop their critical thinking in tourism resource management, including issues and management strategies. The contents of the course include two dimensions, “planning” and “management”. In “planning” dimension, the course is designed based on the planning process, including goal and objectives, relative plans and laws, resource survey and analysis, the analysis of recreation demand and market, land use planning, and planning theories. In “management” dimension, the course is designed based on three impacts often occurring during tourism development, including environmental impacts, social-culture impacts, and economic impacts; the management strategies are also provided and discussed in the class.
