While Shih Hsin was upgraded into a college in August 1991, the Center of Continuing Education was established to increase educational resources and to encourage the public to learn.

When Shih Hsin was upgraded into a college in August 1991, the Center of Continuing Education was established to increase education resources and to encourage the public to learn. The center was converted into the Continuing Education Department in September 1997 to provide in-service education and industrial-academic cooperation education; then the department was further renamed as the School of Lifelong Learning in June 2000 along with two centers: the Center for Continuing Education and the Center for Extension Education.

Organization of the School of Lifelong Learning

The Center for Continuing Education engages in in-service programs, such as assisting relevant departments and graduate schools in planning courses and hiring instructors, arranging teaching schedules and classrooms, creating and managing enrolment files, and handling matters concerning course taking, examinations, grade logging, applications for diplomas, distance learning, and overseas teaching programs.

The Center for Extension Educationengages in credit programs and non-credit programs, such as assisting the relevant departments and graduate schools in planning courses and hiring instructors, arranging teaching schedules and classrooms, creating and managing enrolment files, and handling matters concerning course taking, examinations, grade logging, applications for diplomas, and off-campus teaching programs.
